DIY baby knee pads | tutorial

The main level of our house is nothing but hard tile and wood.  Now that Sam Jam is crawling around like a mad man, his poor knees are all bruised up.  Not what you want to see on those perfect baby legs!  I was on the lookout for some baby knee pads, but was shocked at how much they were charging for those things.  Especially considering I would want more than one set.
DIY to the rescue!

  • knee high socks (I picked up mine at Target)
  • batting
  • scissors
  • pins
  • sewing machine and thread

Socks - $2.50
Not too shabby!  When I was hunting some down online I found them ranging anywhere from $12.00 to $25.00 before shipping.
Although I couldn't get a good photo to save my life, Sam is one happy guy cruising around in his knee pads, and I'm one happy momma not having to worry about him damaging those sweet baby knees of his :)

I'll be linking up to these fab parties!

  1. adorable! and the knee pads are pretty cute, too. ;)

  2. So sweet! We don't crawlers anymore (boohoo), but I've cut the feet out of knee highs to make legwarmers for all the kids. :)

  3. What a great idea. Those little chubby knees deserve to be protected. Any chance you could invent a drool catcher that prevents them from dripping their baby drool all over the floor as they are crawling around in their cute little knee protectors? You'd be a millionaire!

  4. I was on the lookout for some baby knee pads, but was shocked at how much they were ...

  5. Thanks for this tutorial. As a mother of a hemophilia boy, this will certainly come in handy!

  6. Genius!! I love it. I can't believe I hadn't even thought about a way to save my girls knees. They are always very red by the end of the day! Thanks for sharing!!

  8. Found your tutorial on someone else's page:

Will have to make some of these for my boy!

    1. Thank you so much :) And, thank you for letting me know about seeing the tutorial on another page! I noticed they had removed my watermarks on the images and are passing my tutorial off as their own. I've asked that they remove the post. Hopefully they will do the right thing.

  9. Are these adult socks or are they baby socks that you use?

  10. Maybe use those gripper skipper socks so babies are sliding all over floor

  11. You could use some puff fabric paint in small dots on the floor side, so the little one will not slip

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, you guys totally make my day!
