monogrammed pillow update

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The past couple of days have been ca-ray-zay around here.  I planned on posting something different today, but I'm just way too tired and don't have the energy to go through photos.

So instead, you're getting a lame-o phone picture of one of the pillows I finished today!  Yea!!!

Thank you, thank you, for helping me decide what to do with the monogram.  I took your advice and went with the simple monogram, and made it a little larger.  And, since I still have the old plain white shams, I can always switch back if I feel like its looking too busy or personalized for showings.  I think I'm going to like it though.  I'm planning on putting together a tutorial for you guys too so stayed tuned.

Alright, I'm practically falling asleep at the computer.  Peace y'all, I'm out.

need your advice - monogrammed pillows

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Thanks to the mega snow we got a couple of days ago, I've had no reason to leave the house and plenty of time to start in on my euro pillows I mentioned here.

I'm at the point where I need to put on the monogram, but I'm not sure what type to go for.  Or, if I should even do one.

Which do you guys like better?

1 - leave it alone, 2 - plain monogram, 3 - something swirly

What do you think??

samuel - 3 months

Friday, February 22, 2013

We've survived another month!  Can I get an Amen!!!

Here's the chub, chub!

He's giving us lots more smiles lately and is trying to chat it up the best he can.  He has slept through the night a few more times, but not nearly as much as I'd like.  I keep comparing his sleep to Izzy's at that age (she was sleeping all night at 7 weeks) and can't help but get frustrated.  We'll get there though.

Izzy's is coming around to him more and more every day.  She's much more interested in holding and smooching him lately.  It's funny how much she wants to imitate how I take care of Sam when she's playing.  Sometimes when I'm nursing him she will pretend to do the same to her Giraffe.  She even takes care to make sure Giraffe gets burped :)

I'll admit I was freaked out when I found out we were having a boy.  Now I can't imagine not having this little guy around to love.

izzy's birthday interview

Thursday, February 21, 2013

This little cutie just turned 4 yesterday!!!

She has had birthday parties galore over the weekend and earlier this week.  One with grandparents, one with her favorite gal pals, and one at preschool.  Believe it or not, she's o-v-e-r it.  I sang her "Happy Birthday" yesterday, on her real birthday, and she just looked at me with an annoyed face and said, "seriously???".  Ha!

Last year I started interviewing her on her birthday.  Below are the same questions I asked last year but with some different answers.  It's fun to see how they change.  You can check out last year's interview here.

1.  Favorite color?  Pink and purple

2.  Favorite toy?  Aflac duck (her new goose puppet she named Aflac)

3.  Favorite fruit?  Grapes

4.  Favorite TV show?  Max & Ruby

5.  Favorite breakfast?  Cinnamon rolls (pronounced cim-ni-mim rolls)

6.  Favorite lunch?  Grilled cheese

7.  Favorite outfit?  Dresses

8.  Favorite game?  Strawberry Shortcake (she confiscates my iPad regularly to play this)

9.  Favorite snack?  Goldfish crackers

10.  Favorite animal?  Giraffes

11.  Favorite song?  Tinkerbell song (Fly to Your Heart)

12.  Favorite book?  Fairy book (book about the Disney Fairy's homes)

13.  Favorite cereal?  Mom cereal (Special K fruit & yogurt)

14.  Favorite thing to do outside?  Make a snowman (it's currently snowing and this is all she'll talk about)

15.  Favorite drink?  Milk

16.  Favorite holiday?  Christmas

17.  Favorite thing to take to bed?  Giraffe

18.  Who is your best friend?  Coralie, Chloe, and Piper

19.  What do you want to eat for your birthday dinner?  Cake

20.  What do you want to be when you grow up?  Ballerina

Man, I love this girl so much.  Happy Birthday Baby :)

blast from the past - kitchen

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Well, it's official.  The house is finally on the market.

Fingers crossed all goes well and this puppy sells fast!

Last week I showed you a photo of the living room from before we moved in, 4 years ago.  Today I've got one of the kitchen in all its oakness glory.

And here we are after.

Behold the power of paint :)

Even though the house is on the market, I'm still working on the master.  I'm wanting to make some black banded, monogrammed euro shams like these beauties...

I've got everything purchased to make them.  Just need the time.

Something else I need are prayers that this house sells fast.  Having to scram out of the house for showings with a 4 year old, 12 week old, and an 80 pound dog in tow doesn't exactly sound like fun.  Let alone trying to keep the house show ready.

Anyone have suggestions on how to make showings a bit easier when you've got to pick up and get kids out of the house quick?

I'm all ears!

blast from the past - living room

Thursday, February 14, 2013

I'm still knee deep in getting the house ready to be put on the market.  Mike has been in and out of town during this process which has greatly intensified the suck factor.  And, I've got Izzy's 4th birthday party happening this weekend (I've completely dropped the ball on this).  I've got some stuff to show you guys around the house, but with all the work/cleaning out I've not had time to take photos of anything.  Soon though, I'll get it done soon.

Anywho, I can across a photo of our living room from the previous owners and thought you'd be interested in seeing it.

Before, before.

And now.

I found a really good before of the kitchen too I'll show you guys later.  I can't believe I almost forgot how bad it was.  Crazy oakness going down in there.

Oh, and while I've got you.  Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Now go eat some chocolate!

favorite printable valentines

Monday, February 11, 2013

I've been on the lookout for some cute Valentines.

Izzy was sent home with a note from preschool saying that their class was going to be passing them out this week.  Not wanting to hit up the store (due to the lack of showering and overall grossness from tackling gotta-sell-this-house-tasks) I opted for the printable version.

There is some fun stuff out there!

Here are some of my favs of the free persuasion...

- 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 . 5 . 6 -

and then some of the paid variety...

- 1 . 2 . 3 -

For Izzy's purpose I think the free monster finger puppets are a go.

Yep, I'm working on never having to shower or leave the house again ;)

I have an excuse

Thursday, February 7, 2013

I really do have an excuse for the lack of interesting posts lately.

I've been cleaning out closets and random dumping grounds around the house like a mad woman.

Seeing as how I'm not loosing any weight lately, it's nice to see that my house is.  Admittedly, it doesn't feel quite as satisfying as fitting into those pre-pregnancy skinny jeans, but it still feels pretty damn good.

And of course the always gonna suck job of packing has begun in the basement.

Why yes.  Yes that is a Pink Floyd poster hanging on my basement wall.

Just be glad he got rid of his Robert Smith poster.

I promise to have some photos up of the progress I'm making in the master.  Not that it really matters since it will be boxed up soon.  But, dang it I WILL have photos of a half-assed in the amount of time I have finished bedroom to remember this house by!!!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that we officially have a place to lay our heads when we get down to Houston!  My husband flew down last week and found a house to rent.  Can I just say how hard it was for me to let him pick out a house without me there?  I'm tensing up thinking about it again.  But, I really am cool with it because he was able to score us a 9 month lease.  Pretty sweet!

That brings me to another point.  Anyone want to buy a house in Wichita, KS???  I know of one for sale ;)

firmoo - the better to see you with

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Hey, hey!!!  I've managed to crawl out from the massive cleaning/purging campaign that has been going on at our house the past few days.  It's like our house is loosing weight.  Loving it!

Something else I'm loving are my new glasses!

I wanted to share with you guys an online optical company called Firmoo.

Firmoo offers stylish prescription and non-prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses at crazy reasonable prices. Even better is their First Pair Free program where you can try Firmoo glasses for FREE, paying only shipping.  Score!  I told my parents about this, and they are all over it.  My dad is always breaking or loosing his glasses so he was beyond excited when I showed them their prices.

Something else I liked about their site was their Virtual Try-On System.  All you do is upload a photo of yourself and bam, you're able to see what all of their glasses look like on you.  That's huge for me, as I have a hard time finding glasses that look right.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that the glasses I tried on virtually, looked the same on in person.

I definitely recommend checking them out!

You can get the same glasses I'm wearing here.
