Izzy's First Birthday!!!

Monday, February 22, 2010

It finally happened, my baby turned ONE! I had been planning for her party for what seemed like forever. Handmade banner, party hats, tutu, appetizers, IZZE juice drinks, super cute cakes from the yummiest cake shop ever, and I even had a custom birthday top and bloomers made. Did I get a picture of all of the hard work like I had planned on? Nope. But, trust me it was there :)
What a blast seeing her eat her cake! Grandma even showed her how to cut the middle man out (her hands) and dive straight into the cake face first. Thanks again Grandma. She had so much cake and frosting on her face and in her nose I had to keep sucking the frosting out with an aspirator so she could breath! She had a really great time. Nothing could have been better than sharing this with our wonderful family and friends :)
What a year it has been. The best year of my life. I love you Izzy with all of my heart. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

I am always amazed at what entertains her. She could have stayed in this sink all morning had I let her :)

"Ruff" Housing

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

This was the last thing Izzy saw before impact. 80 lbs. of dog coming right at her like a linebacker as she plays contently with her blocks. Wham!!! Knocked on her back, screaming, tears. I carried her around the house and gave her lots of kisses trying to calm her down. All is good as the crying stops and we both give Ruffino "the look". He knows he messed up. I sit her down to play with her blocks again and then I see it. The HUGE goose egg on the side of her forehead. Freakout!!! I was trying so hard to stay calm as I ran for the phone trying to remember her doctor's name so I could find it in the contacts list, nothing... WHAT IS HIS FREAKING NAME?!?!?!?!?! I finally find it and am recounting the incident to the nurse as I'm fighting back tears and thinking about what I need to get together for the trip to the emergency room (and, in the back of my mind, what will happen when the authorities come to haul me off). "She's fine Shelley, this is just the first of many more to come." What? No emergency room? I need to calm down you say? Ugh, I don't even want to know what will happen the first time she falls off her bike. That is the bike that has permanent training wheels, flashing lights, and the tall orange flag on it that I was embarrassed be seen with as a child.
